Victorian Opalware Glass Syrup by C. F. Monroe.  It is pictured in Cohen's Wave Crest book, page 63 which he states: "Rare (transfer) syrup.  Only one I've seen". It has a glass handle.  It has the duck bill syrup lid which has lost its spring, but works well.  The metal shows wear.  The decor is of yellow shading from the top to an opal base.  It has a floral transfer on both sides.  We believe that it is a very early piece from C. F. Monroe. Ht. 3 3/4". No chips cracks or flakes.
