Northwood's Louis XV - Rare Colors


Rare colors of the Louis XV shaker have just been found by a member. This pattern is normally seen in custard glass decorated with gold and Emerald Green decorated with gold. Heacock reported a berry bowl in custard with a blue stain, and also showed a toothpick holder with brown stain. Bredehoft & Sanford note a toothpick holder known in green stain. To our knowledge, Salt Shakers have never been pictured in custard with these stains.

It should be noted that it is clear why these shakers are rare. They might have been a bit more attractive when made but likely did not appeal to many.
